Sahara Sands Odyssey Sample Itinerary

Embark on a Sahara Sands Odyssey, a captivating 7-day journey departing from and returning to Marrakech.  This epic adventure takes you over the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, leading you to the mesmerizing Sahara Desert. Immerse yourself in the nomadic way of life, witness their agricultural practices, and gain insight into the camel's revered status in the desert. After a breathtaking night under the stars in Erg Chigaga, continue your expedition to the charming coastal village of Essaouira before returning to the vibrant city of Marrakech.

Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou

Your driver will pick you up at your Riad in Marrakech to begin your journey.  Your path to the south takes you over the Tizi n Tichka pass.  You will also visit the Telouet Kasbah and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou before retiring to your riad for a lovely dinner

Day 2:  Ait Ben Haddou, Agdz, Zagora, Tamgrout, M'Hamid

Traverse the Draa Gorges and explore the legendary Draa Valley, passing through Agdz and Zagora. Discover the Jewish heritage of Amezrou village, witness the traditional craft of silver jewelry-making, and explore Tamgrout's unique emerald glaze production. Reach M'Hamid, the end of the paved road, and spend the night in a camp within the palm grove.

Day 3: M'Hamid-Erg Chigaga

Experience an agricultural walk in the morning, observing the local farming techniques and precious water resources. In the afternoon, venture further into the Sahara Desert to Erg Chigaga, where a luxury camp awaits for a two-night stay.

Day 4: Erg Chigaga

Visit a local nomadic family, participate in making sand bread, and enjoy a camel ride to witness a breathtaking sunset from the highest dune. Spend the evening by the campfire, savoring a delicious dinner and traditional music under the star-filled sky.

Day 5: Erg Chigaga-Foum Zguid, Tazenakht, Taroudant

Depart Erg Chigaga and journey through the rocky desert and dry lake Iris, stopping to meet Nomads and search for fossils. Enjoy lunch in Foum Zguid and explore the renowned Berber rug village of Tazenakht. Continue to Taroudant for overnight accommodations in a beautiful riad.  Relax and enjoy a wonderful dinner

Day 6: Taroudant, Agadir, Essaouira

Explore the medina of Taroudant, visit the local souks, or embark on an early journey to Essaouira. Pass through Agadir and follow the scenic Atlantic coastline. In Essaouira, indulge in dinner and relax at a beautiful riad in the medina.

Day 7: Essaouira, Marrakech

Spend the day in Essaouira, strolling along the picturesque beach, exploring the vibrant souks, and observing the local fishermen's daily catch. Return to Marrakech, concluding your unforgettable adventure.
