This itinerary assures you will be immersed in the splendor and culture of central and southern Morocco. Dip you toes into Morocco’s Atlantic beaches and sample fresh grilled seafood. Spend the evening gazing at a million starts under the Sahara Desert night sky. Travel back in time as you visit centuries old casbah. Witness the amazing views and walk through the berber villages of the high atlas Mountains. Experience Marrakesh life the way it has been for hundreds of years as you walk the streets and alley ways of the Marrakesh Medina.
Day 1 - Arrive Casablanca
Once you arrive in Casablanca you will be greeted by your driver and guide for your Sahara Odyssey. Check into your hotel relax and freshening up then take a tour of the Hassan II Mosque before dinner.
Day 2 - 3 Casablanca to Essaouira
In the morning after breakfast take a drive along the coast as you make your way to Essaouira. After arriving in Essaouira check into your riad then take a guided tour of the stunning Souks of Essaouira with their white washed houses, art galleries fishing port, food stalls or just relax on the beach. Dinner will be served at the riad the first night.
Day 3 - Explore Essaouira on your own, you might want to stroll through many of the art galleries or revisit the medina at your own pace. if you are more adventurous take quad bike ride along the beach and through the dunes and country side of Essaouira. Take dinner at your leasiure either at the riad or at one of the amazing restaurants in the medina.
Day 4-5 Essaouira, Agadir, Taroudant
After Breakfast you leave Essaouira and make your way to along the west coast of Morocco on our your way to Agadir. Stoping along the way to view magnificent ocean views and a few other surprises. Stop for lunch in Agadir and take a stroll along the beach front. Then we turn east and make our way inland towards our Riad on Taroudant. Check in and relax.
Day 5 - Tour the Souks of Taroudant. Taroudant is known as the “Grandmother of Marrakesh”. The Taroudant medina walls were build in the 16th century and are almost entirely complete and surround a fully functional Moroccan market. Taroudant serves many rural villages and communities in the area so tourism is not its main source of income therefore within the Souks you will find many artisans producing items for everday life not items for the tourist trade. Taroudant is known for leather goods and argan oil. After the tour you might want to venture some free time in the souks or return to the Riad for a Hammam before dinner.
Day 6-7 Sahara Desert - Erg Chigaga
After Breakfast you will start your Journey into the Sahara Desert. This will be a long day of driving but it will be worth it. You will make your way from Taroudant to Foum Zguid were you will stop for lunch. (Hint - The best french fries in all of Morocco). From there you go off road and start your 3 hour trek buy 4x4 to your Luxury Camp in Erg Chigaga. Climb the tallest sand dune and toast one of the most amazing sunsets you will ever see. Sand board if you dare. Eat an amazing dinner under the stars as you meet fellow travelers and dance around the campfire to the drum beat of the Sahara before relaxing in your luxury tent.
Day 7 - Watch the sunrise before breakfast. Take a camel trek through the dunes in the morning then take a trek by 4x4 to a near by oasis and visit a nomad family living in the desert to experience the way of life of the people of the desert.
Day 8-9 Erg Chigaga, M’Hamid, Tamgrout, Zagora and Agdz
After breakfast you will leave say goodbye to the desert and turn north as we make our way north to the Oasis village of Agdz. With many stops along the way in Mhamid , Tamgourt and Zagora with interesting things to see and experience. Once we arrive at our riad for the next 2 nights. Wash off the sand from the Sahara and relax in this beautiful riad nestled in the Palm trees of this oasis.
Day 9 - After breakfast tour the oasis and learn how irrigation and farming is done in an area with so little water. Tour the casbah and schedule a Hamamm if you have not already. It is a must do while in Morocco.
Day 10 -13 Agdz Ouarzazate, Marrakech
After Breakfast you will continue your journey north to Marrakech with stops along the way at Ait-Benhaddou ( the site of where many films have been made) and Kasbah Tamdaght and the Tizi-n-Ticka pass before making our way to your riad for the night.
Day 11 - Marrakech souks are not to be missed. They are an overload of the senses. This morning you will do a day tour of the souks stoping along the way to taste some local street food and witness artisans at work. Tour the Secret Garden and the Dar El Becha Musee. That evening experience Djemaa El Fan with over 100 food stalls to experience or have a nice relaxing dinner in your riad or let us help you book one of the many fabulous restaurants in Marrakesh.
Day 12 - Design the day you want. You might want to venture out into the souks, take a cooking class, do a hot air ballon ride at sunrise, or visit a palace or museum. Your choice. Sahara Sands Tours guide will give you some suggestions and make it happen. That you will make your way to the Agafy desert for a beautiful sunset and dinner at one of the luxury camps in the desert to the north of Marrakesh then return back to your riad that evening.
Day 13 - Make your way out of the city to the Berber villages of the Atlas Mountains, explore the valley and take in views of Mount Toubkal, the highst peak in North Africa. Sip tea in the imllil valley and then hike to the isolated village of Ait Sousa to share a meal with in a Berber Family home. You will see beautiful scenery, terraced gardens tumbling waterfalls and an alpine casbah before returning to your riad for the evening.
Day 14
After Breakfast and any last minute shopping make your way to your final destination Casablanca Airport and a safe trip home.
