Marrakech To Fez

 (4 or 5 days)

including the Sahara Desert


Any trip to Morocco is not complete without a trip to the Sahara. If you are going to fez it would be a great treat to take a side trip to the Sahara. This can be done in either 4 or 5 days and can also be done in reverse from Fez to Marrakech.  


A trip into the southern part of Morocco and further to the desert is a wonderful voyage into the rural culture of Morocco. Most of the journey is off the beaten track and takes you through many small village where you can witness daily life of most Moroccans. A true insight into the culture of the Moroccan people and the beauty of this amazing country.  


The 5 day trip trip includes:


  • One night in Ouarzazate (the Hollywood of Morocco) and near Ait Benhaddou. Dinner is included this night. (Drinks are extra)
  • 2 nights at a Luxury Camp in Erg Chigaga. All meals are included at the camp as well as some activities including camel trek, evincing sundowners and sandboarding. 
  • 1night in Todra Gorge. (breakfast and dinner are included but drinks are extra)
  • Private transport with driver/guide



Itinerary


Day 1


Depart from Marrakech and overnight in Ouarzazate. The trip is around 4 hours plus stops at the Tia n’Tichka pass, Telouet Kasbah and the Ounils Valley. (On the 4 day itinerary this overnight is omitted)


Days 2-3


Desert Camp in Erg Chigaga. This journey is around 5-6 hours. You will pass by the berber carpet making village of Taznkht. You will travel through the town of Foum Zguid (where the paved road ends and the Sahara begins.


Day 4


Bid goodbye to the desert as you make your way to Torda Gorge. Along the way you will pass through M’Hamid el Ghizlane, Tamegroute (know for it’s green pottery and ancient koranic library), Zagora and the lower parts of the Draa Valley.


Day 5 


On to Fez. This days journey is around 8 hours and you will encounter some of the most beautiful terrain in all of Morocco. Magnificent gorges and beautiful Mountain vistas. You will pass through Iran National park at Azrou. Here you will encounter the famous Barbary macaque monkeys and cedar forest.
